REAL WEDDINGS MAGAZINE

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

The new Real Weddings magazine has just come out. We were kindly asked to create some cakes with a Birds, bees and Butterflies theme. Chris and I saw this fabulous printed butterfly motif on a bedspread and thought that would look amazing on a cake. A bold statement, but simplistic design.

Our second idea was something a little more feminine and soft. As a child I had one of those bluebird bracelets and we thought the outline of two birds in flight is a great motif, we used a soft mint colour and a cascade of orchids. This is definitely one of my favourite cakes we have designed and created this year.

Real Weddings Mag is the best wedding magazine on the market. They have a collection of amazing ideas, combined with beautiful styling. I never thought I wanted to have a wedding, but just looking at all the amazing weddings they feature makes me go all bridal.

ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A …… MASARATI

Friday, December 12th, 2008

Great friends of ours were married earlier this year and on the gift registry they had listed a Maserati.

Unfortunately for them, no one was kind enough to buy it. But if it had been in cake the car would have been a fabulous gift and a great joke. In the States it is really common for men to have grooms cakes and they are usually elaborate and amazing.

So if you can’t scrape the dollars together to buy a real luxury car, why not say it with cake ?

HELLO WORLD

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

Welcome to our new website. Chris and I are really excited about the new format and being able to interact with people who are interested in our work and also in learning about cake decorating.

The world of cake decorating really allows you to unleash your creativity and then eat it. We love hearing stories from clients who have bought cakes for friends or relatives and the cakes have been too good to cut.

We especially love it when children are thrilled with the cakes we have designed for them and the best is when they demolish the cake.

I would like to thank DesignShed for doing an amazing job and getting us off the ground.

Because this is the first post I thought I would showcase some of our amazing Christening cakes and to dedicate them to our third child Cake Occasions
