The Wedding Establishment

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Last Wednesday Chris and I attended The Wedding Establishment Showcase which was held at the QVB Tearooms we had a wonderful day talking to girls planning their weddings and to other suppliers.

The venue looked magnificent and Tanja Radman the director of The Wedding Establishment did an outstanding job in putting together a wonderful showcase.

Chris made some fabulous cakes again this week. Check out the Kung Fu Panda cake, Chris hand painted an icing plaque, he never ceases to amaze me with his talent.

Catch Up

Monday, September 21st, 2009

We have been flat out lately with classes and cakes. Over the last two weeks we have held two new classes, the first was a square beginners class. The students did a fabulous job creating their square gift boxes.

Yesterday Chris taught a two tier round class, which was really successful. Because our classes are small we encourage our students to explore their creativity in decorating.

Our student Janice came to the two tier round class after agreeing to make a friend’s wedding cake.

Chris was really thrilled with how she set up and beautifully decorated the cake.

Chris also created some stunning cakes for birthdays and photo shoots.

He painstakingly hand painted the Dior logo on a cake for Amanda’s 18th. The result was stunning.

Chris also create some beautiful cakes for kid’s birthdays and those soon to be born.

A joint 1st and 3rd birthday with a circus theme and a first birthday with a fairy theme.

Chris was asked to match a baby shower invitation from paper eskimo to a cake. Chris hand painted the design on the cake.

Finally a beautiful cake for a photo shoot - I really love the pistachio green and white. Chris hand cut the pattern from icing and stuck it on the cake. This cake creates quite an impact from a distance.

We are also very excited about the new Real Weddings Style Guide which should be out this week. One of our favourite cakes is on the cover.

Yellow Critters and Knee Reconstructions

Friday, September 11th, 2009

We have been asked to create many wonderful and varied cakes since we started our business.

This week we were commissioned to make a cake for a surgeon celebrating a milestone operation, his 10,000th ACL (Knee operation)

We also made a cute yellow critter for Mandi at Babyology for her daughter’s 2nd birthday. Mandi told us that her little girl loves yellow and provided some cute Japanese character’s to inspire Chris in the design of the cake. Look out for the review of the cake on Babyology at the end of September.

We held our first piping class last Sunday, which was fabulous. Chris had such a great time teaching the girls he forgot to get some action snaps.

There are still two places available in this session and you get to take home a Wilton Tip set and a piping kit.

We were also lucky enough to have one of our cakes featured on the Real Weddings Blog last week with the cake also appearing in their soon to be released style issue.

We created this cake last year for the wedding of Stacey and Shane Kouros who used birds and yellow as a motif through out their wedding.
